Black Forest Inn is a classic tradition on Eat Street, circa 1960. Since its inception it has strived to provide a unique and comfortable atmosphere combined with offering a great and extensive beer list.
The Black Forest is mainly a German restaurant and pub. The menu offers a wide selection of sausages, German pies, and everything kraut, which they serve until 10pm (M-Th) or 11pm (F-Sat). This may be a turn off to some, but let me assure you that in the last 34 years, The Black Forest Inn has perfected all their recipes and not only is the food excellent, it is also a welcomed flavorful change to typical eastern European cuisine. And, although they don't offer any drink specials or happy hours, they do offer the best Liters of beer from around the world for $3- 4.50 during all hours.

Perhaps the biggest draw is their incredible patio area which is packed all summer. It's nestled along the corner of 26th & Nicollet, but is able to transcend you away from the city, separating you from your worries, and making you actually believe you are backpacking through Europe.

People of all ages and dress hang out here so it is difficult to describe them, but they all share a common love for beer. However, most are a little bit older; they also have a following from the neighborhood. The Black Forrest offers over 15 tap beer selections, none of which are the beers at most bars. They prefer to stick mostly to the lagers and pilsners, offering multiple selections of Spaten, Hacker-Pschorr, Pilsner Uruquell, etc...(not too many darks) Music is typically a variety of Jazz-pop, but its all easy listening and classic favorites.

THRIFTY TIP- They do have a free lot, but its hard to find, you have to go past the Black Forest heading south on Nicollet Ave. then make your first left turn.
