The management is extremely rude. The food is only ok. Stay away.

I don't know what Earl is talking about, but they have an AWESOME grilled cheese sandwich...caramelized onions, bacon, avocado, cheese...oh and deliciousness is one of the ingredients.

Used to frequent this bar at least 2-3 times per week. The new management is cold and downright demeaning. When I first moved to Minneapolis, people told me to visit Bar Abilene for its fun, casual, urbany atmosphere. Now, the same people, including myself says "stay away, its changed and not for the good". Its going downhill fast, It'll only be a matter of time before this place closes. Why they ever hired Tejas old manager is beyond me. The new crew is certainly out of touch with Uptown and what customers in this area want. I'm actually sad I've had to write this, b/c Bar Abilene was once my fave place to hand out on a weekday/weekend evening. NO MORE. I miss the old manager(who knew me by name) and talk about a poor business decision to fire someone, then hire someone who has a history of restaurant going out of business. Also, the waitstaff/bartenders are constantly complaining about the new management as well. Very dysfunctional environment at Bar Abilene:-(.

The new management really has their priorities in the wrong place. I know for a fact that a lady got barred for posting her opinion on facebook. I also know for a fact that the new manager replaced at least one bartender with his son. He's also the same manager that ran Tejas into the ground. Bar Abilene better make some changes quick and maybe they can restore it to the fun neighborhood bar/restaurant it used to be.
