After a long-standing history in Seven Corners, after a long wonderful run, Sgt. Preston's is finally closed. But from the ashes rises a pub in epic proportions! Open Republic, sort-of a grown up, more-restaurant-than-bar, version of the old.
Don't worry, the best elements of Preston's remain, from the dark wood, tin ceilings, stained glass, mounted deer-heads, and large patio... Gone are the televisions, neon signs, and loud music.
With a similar concept to it's sister restaurant the Aster Cafe (St. Anthony Main). Republic is more upscale. They buy many of their ingredients locally from local farmers and even local Joia sodas. Portion sizes have decreased, but quality is way up, and being on campus, they've kept an eye on price. Most entrees and sandwiches are under $10.
